Our Philosophy:
At Finnish Preschool in Colombo, we believe that childhood is a period of life when everything is possible, and creating meaningful memories and a happy childhood is just as important as academic and social development. We believe that children are active agents in their own lives from a young age, and with age-appropriate considerations, we take their thoughts, ideas, and opinions into account as we continuously develop our concepts and train our teachers to adapt and cultivate this approach. We believe that children should not be educated to adapt to the changing world but rather be educated to change the world themselves. We have nine key concepts in our curriculum, including holistic learning and development, preparing kids with 21st-century skills, sustainable practices, the importance of teachers, learning everywhere and all the time, play as a way to learn, the social experience of learning, learning through exploration, and transversal skills and learning areas.

The Inspiring Odyssey: A Father's Vision Becomes Sri Lanka's Premier Preschool
It began with a dream; Yasmin Mubarak, a devoted father and entrepreneur, yearned to revolutionize the way children learn. Fueled by his personal struggles with traditional education and a passion for recognizing every child's uniqueness, Yasmin embarked on a journey that would forever change early childhood education in Sri Lanka.
Chasing his vision, Yasmin pursued higher studies in psychology and traversed the globe, observing schools, empowering children, and understanding the crucial role of parents in early education. These experiences led him to the powerful realization that quality early childhood development centers were essential in shaping young minds.
Transforming adversity into opportunity, Yasmin turned the challenges he faced, including being bullied for his communication skills, into the driving force behind creating a groundbreaking educational center. Thus, the Modern Learning Studio was born, offering innovative programs focused on public speaking, communication skills, reading, and total child development.
As a father, Yasmin's quest for a suitable preschool for his own children revealed a disheartening lack of quality options. Undeterred, he dared to create a preschool that combined his pioneering ideas with Finland's world-renowned educational principles. Yasmin's belief in the unique contributions men could bring to early education led to the founding of Finnish Preschool in Colombo, starting with his own two daughters and three other children.
From these humble beginnings, Finnish Preschool in Colombo has flourished, now operating in three locations and officially implementing Finland's celebrated approach to early childhood education. Yasmin's bold vision even led to the establishment of Sri Lanka's first preschool and daycare within the country's largest mall.
